Hace una semana murió el disco duro de mi tablet pc debido a que me la llevo a todas partes. Tomé la decisión de cambiar el disco duro por uno de estado sólido para mejorar el rendimiento y la autonomía. Si estas usando alguna distribución GNU/Linux en una pc con un disco de estado sólido, podrás prolongar su vida útil con los siguientes consejos que encontré en el wiki de Arch Linux:
Utiliza el sistema de archivos correcto
El sistema de archivos ext4 se diseño para optimizar el rendimiento en discos duros mecánicos, optimizaciones que salen contraproducentes en un disco de estado sólido y no son necesarias. Lo ideal es utilizar el sistema de archivos F2FS en su lugar. El problema es que pocas distribuciones facilitan la elección de este sistema de archivos. En este blog tengo un tutorial paso a paso que describe el proceso de instalación de Arch Linux con este sistema de archivos
Guarda el registro de systemd en la memoria RAM
Systemd guarda un registro del funcionamiento de los servicios del sistema dentro de la carpeta /var/log/journal , si lo guardamos en la memoria RAM reduciremos la cantidad de operaciones del disco, ganaremos algo de rendimiento y el disco se desgastará menos. Para lograrlo crearemos el archivo de configuración /etc/systemd/journald.conf.d/usbstick.conf y agregaremos lo siguiente:

Storage=volatile
RuntimeMaxUse=30MGuarda la cache de los programas en la memoria RAM
La mayoría de programas de escritorio guardan archivos temporales dentro de la carpeta .cache dentro del directorio del usuario. Estos archivos generalmente solo se ocupan mientras el programa está en funcionamiento, por lo que podemos borrarlos al apagar. Si guardamos dichos archivos en la memoria RAM ahorraremos trabajo al disco y facilitamos el mantenimiento. Para ello agregaremos la siguiente linea en /etc/fstab (introduce tu nombre de usuario donde dice usuario)
tmpfs /home/usuario/.cache tmpfs noatime,nodev,nosuid,size=400M 0 0
